Projects:
Civil War Internet Project: Created by Dave Black. This project is applicable for Grades 5-12. Students select a Civil War persona and then research the type of life this person might lead during the war. The student output is a seven day diary of the activities of their character. This project might be modified in many different ways to meet the needs of the classroom teacher.
The Vacation WebQuest: Created by Dave Black. This interdisciplinary project allows students to plan a realistic journey to the site of their choice using Internet resources. Each student must plan their itinerary, find their flight, select cultural, geographic, or historical sites to visit, budget their trip using a spreadsheet, and use Internet graphics to enhance their finished project. Recommended for Grades 7-12.

Web Sites:
Selected Civil War Photographs Home Page: A great site for primary source Civil War research, the Selected Civil War Photographs Collection contains 1,118 photographs. Most of the images were made under the supervision of Mathew B. Brady, and include scenes of military personnel, preparations for battle, and battle after-effects. The collection also includes portraits of both Confederate and Union officers, and a selection of enlisted men.
The U.S. Civil War Center: Check out their extensive index of Civil War sites for any serious Civil War research. This site also provides a great number of resources for any student who is interested in extra study on this topic.
The Paul Revere Virtual Museum: Five virtual exhibit halls highlight the similarities and differences between the historical Paul Revere and the Revere of lore in poems such as Longfellow's famous The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. A great site for comparing and contrasting historical viewpoints.
